I want attention!!

He loves attention, if you try to ignore him, he will let you know.

Out of the crate

He hasn't been in the crate since the 2nd night we got him because we just could not do the whining and barking. He's pretty persistent, correction, QUITE persistent. lol So far, so good. He stays on the bed until about 5am and then we run him outside and he does one big overnight pee. There are still little accidents here and there, but doing well. And he's only 5 months old, so he's doing really great.  We still do diapers during the day because we don't catch the signals all the time and we don't want to clean up the bigger mess than the diaper. But he is doing better day by day.  He's a chewer, he's a puppy. No surprise there. He likes shredding cardboard and loves any plush that squeaks. He likes tennis balls he can fit in his mouth. He likes the nylabone chews big and small, he doesn't discriminate.

The hyper chill pup

His temperament is so opposite of typical puppy. He definitely gets excited and more and more each day he's getting more "puppy".  However, his default is finding a spot and just laying down and if there is a hooman, laying in their lap.  He's opening up more and finding more things to chew on. He has plenty of toys and we bought some more. His thing, is he'll pull things off surfaces to chew on so we have to be extra certain to put things away, and not just "it can go here".  He's been enjoying tearing apart cardboard, our amazon boxes we can't recycle fast enough. But it's okay because I think he likes the tearing "wrecking" that he does.  Working on potty training. He's definitely able to hold it for hours, and he can pretty much go overnight. But there have been 1am, 4am stops outside. He's good about running to the door or just looking at you sitting down and you get a sense something's up. The sleeping in bed metho...

His spot

We're noticing he will walk to the door or sniff around the corridor when he wants to go outside, or about to make a mess lol. Very smart little one nonetheless.  He will get up and wag his tail, has his reservations for us yet, but definitely curious. When we're all sitting down, he'll just pass out. His spot is here....under the dining table. Not sure why, but it's his spot...unless there's a comfortable bed of course.  We've gone spurts without the diaper and just watching his signals.  Last night instead of another hour of the howling, barking, cries in the crate. We decided another way I had trained a previous dog. If he's a cuddler, the motivation will be, teaching him to lay in bed and not getting down unless he had to go potty. If he would need to go, I'd let him out.  My daughter woke up at 2am, and naturally I let him out just to do it, no potty, but in case. Then he found us in her room and found her bed, then back to sleep til 524am. So he GE...

Ringling the Eskimo puppy

He was a hyper bundle of joy. He had no idea where he wanted to sit in the car and he got car sick 4 times (although its a long ride home).  We've got belly bands all prepared for the accidents and pottying every couple hours. He gets distracted very easily by our dog, the new noises, the new scents.  By the end of the day he also knew to run to the door when he didn't feel like doing anything.  We knew he was on the young side of potty training so we decided to crate him overnight to not wake up to messes all over. Surprisingly, there were no messes in the crate in the morning. He's definitely a lap dog. He wants to always be next to someone and I'm sure he's still young enough to still be used to litter mates. He's very affectionate, but not the type that licks you to death.  So far, surprisingly calm and potty train capable.
